How Score Recalculation Works

When a venue completes an improvement — either through a Goler Certified Partner or independently — we adjust how historical negative signals influence the current score. This section explains the mechanics in full.

What Changes After an Improvement

We do not delete data. Every claim, signal, and review remains visible and accessible to users. What changes is the weight assigned to negative signals that predate the confirmed improvement.

  • Our scoring model reduces the influence of pre-improvement negative signals on the current Risk and Quality scores.
  • The reduction is applied only to signals directly related to the issues addressed. Unrelated negative signals retain their full weight.
  • Your score is recalculated immediately after the weight adjustment.

Certified Partner Improvements (Option A)

Venues that complete a structured improvement program through a Goler Certified Partner receive the following:

  • An Improvement Program badge on the venue profile — a statement of fact that a structured improvement process was completed, not an endorsement of outcome.
  • Weight reduction applied to pre-improvement negative signals tied to the specific issues addressed during the program.
  • Notification sent to users who previously viewed the venue, recommending they check it again.

What Happens if Problems Resurface

If the same issues reappear in new reviews after a certified improvement, the weight of the older signals is fully restored and the score reverts to its pre-improvement state. The badge remains on the profile, but with a visible note that previously addressed issues have reappeared.

Our certified partner will continue working with the venue until the selected issues are fully resolved — provided the venue cooperates in full and follows all recommendations. This is a commitment to outcome, not just process.

There is no fixed waiting period for certified improvements. A venue may initiate a new certified program at any time, provided the program addresses the specific issues that resurfaced.

Self-Directed Improvements (Option B)

Venues that address issues independently may request a weight adjustment by reporting the changes through the Venue Dashboard. We review the claim and, if we confirm a reasonable basis, apply the same weight reduction as Option A.

  • No badge is issued for self-directed improvements.
  • The same weight reduction and user notification apply.

Waiting Periods

Self-directed improvements are subject to escalating waiting periods if the same problems reappear:

  • If the same issues reappear within 6 months of the weight adjustment, the reduction is reversed and the score reverts.
  • The next opportunity to request a new weight adjustment becomes available only after an additional 6 months.
  • Each subsequent cycle adds 6 months to the waiting period (6 → 12 → 18 months, and so on).

The escalation resets only after a full cycle passes without the same issues reappearing in new reviews.

What We Do Not Adjust

  • Negative signals unrelated to the reported improvement are never affected.
  • Review data is never deleted, hidden, or altered — only the scoring weight changes.
  • We do not adjust scores based on promises of future improvement. Changes must already be in place.
  • We do not issue weight adjustments for disputes about the existence of negative reviews. If visitors reported a problem, that is their experience — not a scoring error.
